About Us

Rhonda Lee Gaetano, M.S., NCC, LPC

is the owner and therapist of Serenity Counseling, LLC. She is Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Pennsylvania and a National Certified Counselor with over 15 years of experience treating a variety of diagnoses. Her range of experience includes infertility, postpartum depression, substance abuse, couples counseling, co-dependency, EAP, adolescents and the forensic population. Additionally, she has treated a variety of other mental health diagnoses with a specialty in depression, anxiety, addiction and co-dependency.

Rhonda's primary focus is to provide a safe, comfortable, friendly, non-judgmental atmosphere where clients feel comfortable discussing feelings. Rhonda is sensitive to the impact family members endure during addiction, therefore she works with clients to decrease enabling behaviors and increase the ability to set and maintain healthy boundaries. Rhonda emphasizes assertiveness and communication skills in effort to help clients meet and verbalize needs.

During the initial visit, clients can expect an initial assessment and begin discussing presenting concerns and stressors. She offers a variety of day and evening appointments in a comfortable handicap accessible office. She utilizes an eclectic approach to therapy, the majority being Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT).

A 1999 University of Pittsburgh graduate, Rhonda received a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology in 2002 from Chatham College. Rhonda currently resides in the Pittsburgh area with her husband and two sons.

Life is a journey with many paths. Choosing the path which is best for you at that time can be difficult, especially where there are many unexpected bumps and roadblocks. Therapy is a process that can help people on this journey. From everyday situations like parenting, work and relationships, to more specific ones like addiction, depression or anxiety, everyone struggles with something from time to time. As a Licensed Professional Counseling with over 15 years experience, I offer a safe place to work on whatever struggle you might be encountering. I utilize an eclectic approach, but always client directed.

Shane McCabe, LPC
Shane McCabe, LPC is a licensed professional counselor who has worked in the field of mental health for more than 8 years. He believes that each person seeking therapy is ultimately "the one behind the wheel". Shane understands that there is no one that knows you better than you. However, sometimes we need a passenger along the way to help make sense of the directions. Shane helps to attain the independence we want when it feels as if life has gone awry.

With a Bachelor's Degree in art therapy and a Master's in professional counseling, Shane provides therapy from a creative and flexible approach. Sometimes, this means collaborating to identify and solve ongoing issues. However, he also appreciates the value in simply having someone to sit with and listen to you. Using a variety of therapeutic methods, Shane can help to process personal distress, challenge problematic thinking and/or behaviors and help promote desired growth.

Carol Burgman, M.Ed., MSW, LCSW

“In times of stress, the best thing we can do for each other is to listen with our ears and our hearts and to be assured that our questions are just as important as our answers” – Fred Rogers

My career has spanned many years as an educator and social worker. In this work, I have discovered one thing we have in common: the need to be heard. When we feel the power of a listening soul, the answers we seek become discoverable.

Carol Is a dual-certified teacher and licensed clinical social worker. She holds an M.Ed. in Special Education (Duquesne University) and an MSW specializing in Gerontology, from the University of Pittsburgh. She is also a musician, having earned a BA in Music Education (Carlow College). Throughout her career, Carol has received training in many areas such as ABA, diversity, crisis management and communication.

Carol uses a combination of techniques in her work with clients ages 14 and up, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Short term/Solution Focused Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, and Humanistic Therapy. Areas of special interest for many of Carol’s clients involve grief and loss, anxiety and depression, adjustment to life situations, Autism, chronic illness, work/life balance and aging concerns. Carol's practice is LGBTQ+ affirming.

Amy Hollis, LPC

Amy Hollis, LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor who is committed to helping her clients recognize their own strengths and develop skills that will foster desired changes in their lives. Amy works with clients to help them understand their stressors, increase their self-awareness, enhance their coping skills, and recognize their own strengths. Amy is a compassionate and thoughtful therapist who values her relationship with her clients, which she believes is essential to the work that happens in session. She uses an eclectic, client-centered treatment style with elements of Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT) as the foundation. Amy views the therapeutic process as collaborative and relational in nature, and strives to create an open and non-judgmental space for clients.

Amy graduated from Carlow University in 2009 with a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling. She has been working in the mental health field starting in 2003. She spent many years working in Community Mental Health programs with adults suffering from dual diagnosis issues.
